Artist's Leslie Hill and Helen Paris worked in collaboration with hundreds of residents and workers from across the city to explore connections between smell and memory. In doing so, they have built an alternative portrait of London. The website collates interviewees audio extract's grouped into essences of 'London', 'Nostalgia' and 'Home'.

The Essences of London DVD also includes documentation of a live performance of On the Scent, by Leslie Hill, Helen Paris and Lois Weaver which was presented in private homes and explores the connections between smell and memory.
