SERPENTINE
GALLERY
EDUCATION PROJECT / CD-ROM
The Serpentine
Gallery has an innovative and inclusive Education Programme that
compliments each exhibition at the gallery. The education department
has recently embarked upon an ambitious series of digital arts projects
for schools.
Katherine Green of Red Leader was approached to lead one of these
projects, called Digit. Working with the artists' Meera Chauda and
Liane Lang, two eight week projects took place during and in relation
to the Takashi Murakami exhibition, resulting in students producing
short animated screensavers. 11-17 year olds from The Hospital School,
Great Ormond Street Hospital and North Westminster Community School
were first introduced to the practice of Murakami and then learnt
basic animation skills using Flash and story boarding techniques.
These animations were then made into Screensavers and produced on
a CD-ROM, designed by Red Leader.
Screensavers were displayed in the foyer of the Serpentine
Gallery. |
